Where will my data be stored?

Your data is stored securely online. You can choose to have your data hosted in the USA, EU, Australia, or New Zealand.

Can I get a backup?

Yes you can request a backup of your data and documents at any time. You can download your documents in their original formats (docx, pdf, etc) and the data you type in will be available as spreadsheet files (CSV).

How much does it cost?

You pay a low monthly fee for each user and there are no fixed term contracts. Your monthly bill will vary based on the number of users you had in each month. See Pricing for details in your region.

Can I import data from my existing system ?

Yes, we routinely import data from a wide variety of existing system. Generally speaking if you can export your data to spreadsheet/CSV files then we can import it. We also have some automated utilities for importing data from common systems.

Does it run on a Mac?

Yes, ActionStep is 100% cloud-based so it runs on any computer with Internet access and a modern browser.

What about tablets and smartphones?

If your device has Internet access then you can connect to ActionStep via the device's browser. An iPhone app is available for you to view contacts and matter information and save ActionStep contacts to your phone. Calendars can sync bi-directionally with any device supported by Google or MS Exchange.

Do I still need a server?

No, once you have moved over to ActionStep there should be no need for you to run a local server.

What happens if the Internet is down?

ActionStep is a 100% cloud-based solution so you will need to be connected to the Internet to access your data. However there are multiple ways to access the Internet so even if your office connection is down you can use your mobile phone hotspot or work from another location for a while.

What happens if I want to leave ActionStep?

No problem, just let us know one month ahead and request a backup of your data. 

How do I delete a Matter / Action?

  • The matter has 1 or more sale/purchase records
  • The matter has 1 or more open tasks
  • The matter has 1 or more sale/purchase line item records
  • The matter has 1 or more account records
  • The matter has 1 or more appointment records
  • The matter has 1 or more Matter total records
  • The matter has 1 or more billable hours

If you are not able to delete the matter then you could try removing the listed item  (for example, if there are open tasks then you could delete or complete the tasks).

How do I delete an Action Type or Matter Type?

You cannot delete a matter type but you can disable it so that users will no longer be able to create a matter of that type.
