The ActionStep Portal is a secure area that allows external parties to access selected matter information. Initially this information will be restricted to matter documents and chat, but in subsequent releases we anticipate adding options for you to grant them access to other parts of the matter data and for your clients to see and pay their bills.

The portal is preferable to email as a means of exchanging documents with your clients since email is inherently insecure and there is no proof of delivery or time guarantees. The portal acts as a Secure Document Exchange (SDX) that creates a direct, encrypted connection between the external party and the portal. Clients need to verify themselves by logging in, and all access is recorded in an audit trail. Documents are available to the related parties immediate after being uploaded, or added, to the matter folders allowing for immediate settlement.
