If you are reversing an invoice payment that created a transfer to your business account see the note at the bottom of this page.

In order to reverse a transaction, the source transaction will need to be found. There are two ways to find the Transaction you wish to require.

Reversing a Trust Transaction - From the Main Trust Menu

All Trust transactions can be accessed via the list view in the area the transaction was created. In our example a Receipt will be reversed.

The resulting list can be filtered if required to find the transaction - in this case Receipt #22 will be reversed

Click on the Transaction Number.

This will open the transaction (with all its information). Click on "Reverse Transaction"

Complete the detail and save

Each Transaction can only be reversed once. You are not able to "Reverse a reversal".

Reversing a Trust Transaction - From the Client Trust Menu

To find a transaction for reversal from a client matter. Go to the Transaction history  - clicking on the Amount will open the transaction as above.

Reversing an Invoice payment

When paying an invoice with trust money Actionstep can transfer the funds out of the trust account and straight to your office or business account. When it does that it creates two separate transactions, one out of your trust account and one into your business account. Actionstep will treat these as separate transactions. Because the deposit into your business account is not a trust transaction you could alter it in Actionstep.

If you reverse an invoice payment in the trust account it will only reverse the trust accounting transaction, not the office account transaction. That will have to be deleted or reverse separately.

You will find the office side of the transaction in the accounting menu: Accounting > Banking > Deposits.
