Introduction - Enhanced Billing Mode

Introduction

Enhanced Billing Mode (EBM) offers a broad range of new features and enhancements to Actionstep’s billing functionality.

Before you upgrade your existing Actionstep system, we recommend that you request a free trial of Enhanced Billing Mode to ensure it suits all your requirements, and talk to one of our staff or Certified Consultants if you have any questions.

Please e-mail support@actionstep.com to request a trial system.

What has changed?

You can see an overview of the major new features on our website or on this user guide.

Beyond these, we’ve introduced over 100 changes and enhancements to Actionstep. Some of these may affect your current billing and reporting processes:

  • New Bill Templates - Some customized bill templates will not maintain the same layout and may need adjustment. However, EBM does include a set of new built-in templates which are far more feature rich than previously possible

  • Consolidated Billing - Bills can be consolidated into one though currently the invoice will not separate items by matter.

  • Bill Settings - It is recommended that you configure the billing settings of each active matter after upgrading to EBM

See Changes to expect from Enhanced Billing Mode for more details about the changes this will apply

Switching on EBM:

  • Go to Admin > Billing Settings. You will have to enter the word "EBM" and approve the change. Note that a system cannot be moved back from EBM once it is enabled.

  • You can request a copy of your database be made available in a development environment so that you can trial EBM before updating your live system. Email support@actionstep.com to arrange this.
