Recording Time when Completing Tasks

You can complete a task from several places inside ActionStep:

  • On the Step screen (if the task is mandatory)
  • From the Alert Bar (at the bottom of all the main screens)
  • From the Task tab inside an action
  • From the main Tasks list

Administrators can define whether the various action types should track actual and/or billable time (or neither). If the action type has been configured to track time, then you will be prompted to enter the time when completing tasks for that action type. 


Tasks that are automatically assigned to you when moving to a step may have default time values already set, but you can override these settings upon completing a task if required.

Creating Tasks that have already been completed

Sometimes you may want to quickly record a task that has already been completed. When you choose "Add Task" inside an action you indicate if it has been completed or not. If you choose "completed" then all you need to do is enter the task name and the time (and a rate sheet for billable time).

Completing tasks on the Step screen

If a task is assigned to you and it is mandatory for the current step then the task will be listed on the Step screen with a small green tick icon. By clicking the icon you can quickly mark the task as complete and enter in the time.
If you move to a step that has outstanding mandatory tasks then you will be prompted to compete these tasks and enter the time.
