When you compose and send an email from within Actionstep it simply gets sent to the recipient immediately, and a copy is placed in your Sent Items list.

Subject Line Method

When using the subject line method Actionstep will set the Reply-To address to matters@abc.com and will append the ID information to the end of the subject line.
NOTE: If the recipient removes the ID information from the subject line when replying then Actionstep will place the message in the Unassigned mailbox when it receives the reply.

Wildcard Method

You will have the option to specify whether the 'From' address should be the email address in your contact record or any of the Aliases you are associated with in Actionstep.
Example: John's server email address is john@abc.com and he is linked to the following aliases in Actionstep: "john.smith" and "sales". Before sending the message John could select to have the "From" address set to:

  • john@abc.com
  • john.smith@abc.com, or
  • sales@actionstep.com

If John sends a message from within an Action then Actionstep will automatically append the action ID in the "Reply-to" address e.g. john.smith+a1234@abc.com. If the "From" address is set to john@abc.com then when the recipient replies, the reply will be sent to John's server mailbox (john@abc.com) AND also to the action in Actionstep.
