Introduction

Enhanced Billing Mode (EBM) offers a broad range of new features and enhancements to Actionstep’s billing and reporting functionality.

The ‘Phase 1’ release of EBM is now available to new and existing users, with new features being added incrementally over coming months.

Before you upgrade your existing Actionstep system, we recommend that you request a free trial of Enhanced Billing Mode to ensure it suits all your requirements, and talk to one of our staff or Certified Consultants if you have any questions.

Please e-mail support@actionstep.com to request a trial system.

What has changed?

You can see an overview of the major new features on our website or on this user guide.

Beyond these, we’ve introduced over 100 changes and enhancements to Actionstep. Some of these may affect your current billing and reporting processes:

  • New Bill Templates - Some customized bill templates will not maintain the same layout and may need adjustment. However, EBM does include a set of new built-in templates which are far more feature rich than previously possible

  • Consolidated Billing - Consolidated Billing is not yet available, and any previous work-arounds will not work in EBM

  • Bill Settings - It is recommended that you configure the billing settings of each active matter after upgrading to EBM

  • No Foreign Exchange Billing - Foreign Exchange Billing is not yet available, and many previous work-arounds may not work in EBM without configuring the matter bill settings

  • LEDES/E-Billing - We are in the process of completing this feature so we do not recommend using it just yet.

Current migration process:

  • To request your upgrade to EBM, please fill in and submit the webform here - Move to Enhanced Billing mode

  • An Actionstep staff member will be in touch to ensure EBM meets your requirements and discuss training options

  • When the migration takes place, we advise that all users log out of Actionstep

  • The migration should take no more than 5 minutes
