Desktop Data Import Tool

The Desktop Data Import Tool is a program distributed by Actionstep to our partners to perform specific imports. It natively supports imports from Counsel Pro, Time Matters, LawBase, and Amicus. The tool can also be used a document import tool on many windows-based workstations and servers.

Import Data In Actionstep

Actionstep offers a data import tool inside the application for users of that system. It is located at Admin > Import Data.

Data Formatting

The document import using the Desktop Data Import Tool uses a CSV-filetype that requres specific columns headers and data formats to function.

Imports inside the Actionstep application interface can use CSV or XLSX filetypes. These imports also expect certain data points in specific formats.

A note about Data Imports

As much imported data is from spreadsheets, it is important that the format and data be proper. It is also important to establish expectations with the customer of who will be responsible “cleansing” the data from the old system: The partner or the customer.
